Dear YHS Parents,
We've received some questions regarding our lunch service and want to assure you that we are not running out of food in the MPR. We understand that popular items can sell out, and we appreciate your understanding as we fine-tune our operations during these first few weeks of school.
What to Expect at Lunch
MPR Main Line: The MPR always offers a variety of choices. While a specific entree might run out near the end of the lunch period due to popularity, we consistently have at least 3-4 selections available. We're well-stocked with plenty of each item. Smoothies, being a high-demand item, sometimes sell out by the end of lunch, which is fairly typical given their popularity and production limits.
Outside Pizza Carts: These carts are designed to offer quick service and reduce wait times for the main MPR line. They serve pizza, spicy chicken sandwiches, smoothies, and turkey sub sandwiches. It's by design that these carts may sell out of items by mid-lunch. If a cart closes, our staff directs students to the MPR, and we're working on getting signs out to make this even clearer.
BBQ Line: So far, we've had plenty of food at the BBQ line on most days.
We're actively monitoring demand for all items.
Our Commitment to Efficient Service
We are continuously restocking items throughout lunch, and while a student might choose to wait a minute or two for a specific item, service continues smoothly. We're diligently working on counts and volume at all our serving areas, which always takes a week or two to perfect at the start of the school year. We've seen improvements in line efficiency since the first day, and we're committed to ensuring all students are served promptly.
How Parents Can Help!
You can significantly help us keep the lunch lines moving quickly, please encourage your student to:
Memorize their Student ID Number: This is the most crucial step! Knowing their ID number by heart will speed up their transaction significantly.
Have their ID Number Ready: Even if they don't have it memorized yet, please ask them to have their ID number written down or easily accessible when they reach the service counter.
Your cooperation makes a big difference in ensuring a smooth and efficient lunch experience for everyone!
